About

In February 2020 Corryong Primary School closed and a P to 4 building on the senior campus of Corryong College was established. Since then, it has been utilised as the Upper Murray Community Recovery Hub.

We know that Corryong’s old primary school represents an important part of Upper Murray's identity. Which is why we, the Upper Murray Community Recovery Committee in partnership with the Corryong Community Recovery Committee have commenced extensive community consultation on how to best use this vacant land.

From 20 October to 21 November 2021, we received an overwhelming 349 responses to a community survey asking for your voice on the future of this site. We thank each and every person who took the time to let us know their thoughts. To complement the survey, five focus groups also ran concurrently.

Since then, the survey data and the insights received from the focus groups informed the facilitation of a community workshop on 16 February 2022. The workshop validated the data that emerged from the survey and focus groups.

The survey, focus groups and community workshop were just the first steps in a big project that includes Towong Shire Council and the Department of Education and Training. Since the conclusion of the consultation, Towong Shire Council will now lead the next steps of this project. You can access their project page here for updates. This page will remain live for some time to so that community can readily access the consultation findings.
